Concrete's environmentally friendly features make it the building material of choice for sustainable development. As a nearly inert material, concrete is an ideal product for recycling certain waste materials and/or industrial byproducts. CalPortland incorporates the use of SCM's in the production of concrete helping to contribute to the reduction of green house gas (GHG). We are the leaders in the production of sustainable concrete products such as high volume flyash mixes and pervious concrete. We are also able to provide product specific EPD's for LEED and other environmental focused projects.
Another environmental benefit of concrete is energy efficiency. From manufacture to transport to construction, concrete is modest in its energy needs and pays society back in exponential energy efficiency benefits such as thermal mass, Urban Heat Island mitigation, fuel efficiency and thus emission reduction when used in construction of highways, streets and local roads. Since the materials for concrete are so readily available, ready-mixed concrete can be made from local resources and processed near a jobsite. Local availability also minimizes fuel requirements and reduces emissions for handling and transportation. 
CalPortland also provides quality aggregates for a broad range of construction from the simplest applications to projects with specialized high performance characteristics. Our expertise in logistical management enables us to distribute high strength aggregates throughout our network when high performance is required. We also specialize in providing full lines of graded stone in various sizes, as well as concrete sand, masonry sand, and gravel. Through innovation, we are defining modern mining practices that balance the regional demand for our products with the environmental values and priorities of the community. In addition to being able to distribute aggregates by truck, some of our sites also have the ability to distribute by barge.
Try us for your concrete pumping needs! On many construction sites, the truck chute concrete cannot always reach where the concrete needs to be placed. Some slabs have reinforcing steel or other objects that mixers cannot drive over. For many contractors, pumping saves so much labor that it is the only way to place concrete. In these cases, pumping is a very efficient and reliable means of placing concrete, which makes it economical as well.
CalPortland offers concrete pumping services in Southwest Washington and Oregon. We operate seven high quality Schwing pumps; five 32 meter booms, one 39 meter, and one 40 meter pump. CalPortland pump operators are experienced and certified by the American Concrete Pumping Association. To add value and increase efficiency for contractors, CalPortland pumping service works as a team with concrete dispatchers, mixer drivers, and the sales staff.
