PBS provides a unique blend of engineering and environmental services in-house. Our engineering expertise includes civil, transportation, traffic, geotechnical, and environmental specializations. Our environmental group covers everything from health and safety testing and compliance, through environmental due diligence, remediation, and clean-up. These departments are supported by our in-house surveying, landscape architecture and laboratory testing capabilities. Our firm employs 230 people throughout our 11 office locations in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
PBS is celebrating 35 years of business, with more than 30 years in southwest Washington. As most in the industry know, HDJ Design Group joined forces with PBS in 2016. Our combined team recently relocated to the 6th floor of the Vancouver City Hall Building, in a modern workplace we’re happy to call home. The expanded space frees us to grow and search for new talent to join our team. We’re excited to be on the forefront of Vancouver’s renaissance, and we’re exciting to continue teaming with local contractors responsible for transforming our City.
PBS offers unsurpassed depth and breadth of services here in SW Washington. Our firm and staff’s reputation with local, state and federal permitting agencies provides a superior value proposition. We offer a lot of flexibility, and we enjoy collaborating with other firms to deliver successful projects. PBS offers the multi-faceted capabilities of a national firm, but with the personal touch of a local business. Our size and specializations allow us to work one-on-one with our clients to develop solutions, while offering extensive support disciplines to tackle the unexpected with ease. We’re grateful to have a large list of repeat clients who rely on us for our problem solving ability and local expertise. We believe this is a direct result of our commitment to offering the very best staff. We believe that happy employees produce the best work, so we work hard to hire the best talent and then supplement that by providing them with the environment, training, and tools that produce effective solutions.
We have been an SWCA member for 5 years; The roots of our engineering practice go back more than three decades in southwest Washington, so maintaining close connections with the local contracting community is critical to our business. PBS enjoys excellent working relationships with the local construction/development community as clients and teaming partners on both private and public projects.
We are proud to have been a key team member from the beginning stages of the Vancouver Waterfront's tremendous transformation. Our civil, geotechnical, environmental, transportation, and traffic engineers have poured their talents into virtually every aspect of this emerging development, from infrastructure feasibility studies and planning, through the design of individual blocks. Our team has collaborated closely with developers, regulators, the City, and the Port of Vancouver to clear hurdles and secure paths to successful development.
