2017 proved to be a great year for the SWCA and its 362 members. The local construction industry is booming and our contractors are working hard at building a great region. We have seen record-breaking construction projects in and around our area, where our members are out making things happen for the betterment of our community.
The SWCA Foundation handed-out $20,000 worth of scholarships to students, as well as a $2,000 grant to the Battle Ground YMCA task force to perform a market study. The SWCA was also the top sponsor for the VBJ’s Top Projects award ceremony. As “champions of the construction industry,” we have filled several key decision-making seats within our membership to ensure our contribution for the future of construction. For example, we have partnered with Clark County to help aid them in revamping the permitting process.
Sadly, we lost two very important members of the SWCA this year: Eric Sander and Scott Campbell. Both these men embodied the spirit of the SWCA and we benefited greatly from their leadership and commitment to the organization. We salute their efforts and are committed to continuing their vision in the future.
We are excited to march into 2018 and launch our first Construction Executive Summit. Seats are selling fast and it will be a huge success. It will surely breed partnerships in our community which is what we all need to be successful! Thank you to our Executive Director, Darcy, for laying the groundwork for this exciting new event.
