Shoptalk with Sherrie - December 13, 2021

We had so much fun at the SWCA Holiday Party and Auction:  Building Christmas Together presented by Banner Bank on Friday December 3^rd.  We all enjoyed some amazing dancing, food and drinks and raised our paddles for the SWCA Foundation Scholarship Program!  Thank you to all who came and all who have supported us through this entire year!
Now back to work and getting prepared for the end of 2021 and the start of 2022!

• The SWCA SWAG Sale is hopping – you can access it by clicking here or from our home page at www.swca.org. The sale is live only until December 19^th – so place your order soon! Many thanks to Jamie Young of Uptown Screen Printing & Personalized Gifts  for helping us to curate and deliver this collection! There are lots of cute/handsome/cool items available in the SWAG Sale – from t shirts to tech hoodies to beanies – be sure to check it out.  10% of your purchase price will go to the SWCA Foundation – so that is another reason to grab some swag.  We will be arranging delivery from the SWCA World Headquarters office on January 17^th.   
• The Construction Executive Summit is happening Thursday, February 3^rd.  Registration is open & sponsorships are available.  Early bird pricing ends with 2021 – so book your tables now!
• Our next SWCA Webinar is taking place on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at 9:00 am.  The topic is Internship Essentials:  What you need to know to host and intern and we will cover all of the things you might need to consider to have an intern at your company this summer – Mark Wreath of Vancouver School District and Chad Mullen of ESD 112 will be joining us with the information you need to know and Ellen will discuss things that SWCA can do to help you out!  Register here to get the Zoom invite.
• ESD 112 is hosting a Construction/Trades Panel on January 10^th from 4:30 – 5:15 pm via Zoom.  This will be part of a teacher workshop where they would like to get some industry knowledge out to the teachers.  Would you like to participate?  No preparation is necessary – you may be asked questions about your career in construction or where you feel the industry is going.  We would love to have an SWCA member participate! Email Ellen if you are interested.

• Do you have an issue that you would like reviewed by the Development and Engineering Advisory Board for Clark County?  Email Sherrie to discuss.
• Do you want to know what infrastructure projects might impact your business in Clark County?  Join us at the Clark County Utility Coordinating Commission meeting – the next meeting is on Wednesday December 1st, lunch at 11:30, meeting starts at noon at the Pied Piper Pizza on Fourth Plain.  Contact Ellen with questions and she can get you put onto the list.

• City of Vancouver announces structural and personnel changes to the Community and Economic Development (CED) Department.  The CED Department was reorganized into two new departments last month.  Read the letter.
