
Big things are happening at SWCA World Headquarters. Sherrie Jones had a birthday and got a new bionic arm last week. We are postponing the Construction Executive Summit and other face to face events scheduled for January and February. - Thirsty Thursday for January 20, 2022 has been cancelled due to rising COVID-19 numbers in our community. Check back here or on our for the new date coming soon!
- The Construction Executive Summit is postponed to Thursday March 24 due to rising COVID-19 numbers, same time, same place, same amazing content. Registration is open & sponsorships are available. We are planning for an in-person event – this year’s Summit will include all of the great content as well as a Supplier Expo and a Young Contractor Forum. Would you like to sponsor a student a the YCF? Add the $50 Student Ticket when you register. We are really excited to be holding this event. The Summit is a great opportunity for you to connect with the local leaders in the construction industry! Register today!
- Dozer Day is coming on May 14 & 15 this year at the Clark County Fairgrounds. This is the most amazing day for our young construction professionals to get in the driver’s seat of the big equipment. We need your help to volunteer for the event – both in the equipment or on the ground. Check out the new website where you can volunteer or email Ellen and she can help you out.
SWCA in the Community
- The Clark County Councilors will be considering changes to the Surface Mining Regulations in Clark County on February 2 at their work session. If you would like to join the virtual meeting to help represent the community, check out this link to the Clark County website. Let us know if you are interested to help to represent your business by emailing Sherrie.
- Last quarter, Clark County implemented concurrent reviews of permits throughout the county as well as a few other procedural changes. Do you have any feedback to offer to the County regarding these changes to operations? Email Sherrie to discuss.
- Do you want to know what infrastructure projects might impact your business in Clark County? Join us at the Clark County Utility Coordinating Commission meeting – the next meeting is on Wednesday February 2, lunch at 11:30, meeting starts at noon at the Golden Corral on Fourth Plain. Contact Ellen with questions and she can get you put onto the list.
- Battle Ground Public Schools is hosting an Industry Fair on Thursday February 17 from 5-7pm at Battle Ground High School. This event will showcase careers and industries that are available to students in our community. SWCA will be there with a table and we would love to be there with you. - Volunteer with Parker, Smith, & Feek and the National Association of Women in Construction for the Santiam Canyon Shed Build. This project is in support of the Santiam Canyon Wildfire survivors. While supplies are welcomed, volunteers are most needed. Contact Sherrie for more information on how you and your team can support this great effort. - Clark County announced structural and personnel changes to the Community and Economic Development (CED) Department. The CED Department was reorganized into two new departments last month. Read the letter.
