On a sunny afternoon in early March I took a short walk with Mike Green around his latest project, Province Estates in Camas. The sun was shining and there was a light breeze as we watch four bald eagles frolicking in the air. It was a beautiful day to enjoy a sneak peak of spring in Southwest Washington.
Liberty Land & Development operates in Camas and develops land for residential development. They take raw land and develop the project infrastructure. The project sits on top of a hillside east of Camas and has views of the Columbia River, Mt. Hood and Portland across the river. Lots in the development are available for purchase by developers or homeowners.
How long has Liberty been operating in Southwest Washington?
“Liberty Land has been in operation since 2005. We bought the parcels of land for the Province Estates development in 2005 and then the real estate market fell out,” Mike said. “We have been working to permit and prepare the property since the market recovered.”
What do you customers like about Liberty Land & Development?
Liberty has deep roots and a strong connection to the community – Mike graduated from Washougal High School in 1989. He has lived in this area all his life and currently makes his home in Carson.
How did you find out about SWCA?
”We’ve been an SWCA member in the past and following a recent conversation with my friend Jerry Sauer (past president of SWCA) I recently decided to re-engage with the SWCA organization,” Mike said.
What is your favorite thing about SWCA?
“There is a great camaraderie with the members of SWCA,” Mike said. “This network provides exposure to the companies and faces that are building Southwest Washington.” Mike added that he finds value in the Association’s advocacy practice that is working hard on policy issues as well as supporting members with their community outreach.
Is there anything else you would like people to know about SWCA?
“It is important to get involved with SWCA. Right now, the rock issue is a big thing in the area,” Mike said. “We all need to understand what the shortage of aggregate resources does to our market. We all need to be able to access these products for our business.”
