All the SWCA BUZZ on 10/12/2021
SWCA just might be the best organization that you can be a part of! What a fun day we had teambuilding at The Source in downtown Vancouver! Thank you Ellen for encouraging Gina and I to give rock climbing a try. It ROCKED!
Here are a few punch list items for this week:
- The Clark County Development & Engineering Advisory Board needs your help! With the transformer shortage, commercial & industrial projects could be severely delayed. The county would like to offer their support with potential changes to the building process, but NEEDS YOUR INPUT. Contact me ASAP to learn more & share your feedback.
- This year’s SWCA Holiday Party & Auction: Building Christmas Together will be on Friday, December 3rd at ilani. Tickets are on sale now! Only a few sponsorship opportunities left – Have your name on Every. Single. Paddle. In the room with our Paddle Raise Sponsorship $3500. Contact me for more info.
- Interested in building something to contribute to the Holiday Auction? See our wishlist here or make your own. (please notify us on what you’re building so we can add it to our marketing materials) The member item that raises the most money will win a special prize!
- Coming up on October 21st is our next Open House! This is the perfect time to meet the team, meet our benefit providers, and learn about everything that SWCA offers to you as a member. Please RSVP in advance as snacks will be provided. AND there will be door prizes for the members that ask the most questions!
- Mark your calendars for the Construction Executive Summit on Thursday, February 3rd. This year we will be partnering with Cascadia Technical Academy for a Young Contractors Forum to connect youth with the multitude of opportunities that the construction industry offers. There are still opportunities to get involved. More details to come.
SWCA in the Community
- Did you know that the Clark County Utility Coordinating Commission (CCUCC) meets on the first Wednesday of each month? Joining this lunch meeting is a great way to learn about the upcoming infrastructure development projects in the county and discuss any challenges you might be having with your projects. If you would like to get involved or just show up to hear what is going on, contact Ellen. Did you know that the county is now using a new, streamlined process for requesting utility locates? - We are looking for members to join our discussion regarding Permitting in Clark County. SWCA is your advocate, so we need your input! Please send your stories, share your solutions, and join our workgroup! Email Sherrie to share or to learn more about how you can get involved!
- SWCA is partnering with Workforce Southwest Washington in a joint marketing campaign to encourage employees to apply for jobs in the trades and construction. Would you company like to be a part of this effort? Email Ellen if you are interested to let us use your name and logo in this effort.

- Washington State Tax Structure Work Group is seeking input! Attend the next Southwest Region meeting on October 20th.
- The I-5 Bridge Replacement Program is seeking community input on a variety of topics. Check out their website on how to have your voice heard at their next meeting.
